PMA length

Postby ChadMR82 » Wed Oct 02, 2019 3:11 pm

I shoot a 60" PSA and have a 28" draw length. Been thinking about a 64" PMA for 3D. Shot a buddies of mine 64" and man was it smooth. I know what the BW charts say about recommended draw length but curious if anyone thought or had any data to show if I would be giving up much performance going to a 64" PMA with my draw length. Thanks

Personally if it feels good to you, then I’d say go for it. You will get a little more vibration out of a 64” limb with a 28” draw, but I believe that any loss in performance will be negligible. ....Uncle Jim

Chad I was wondering if there was much draw weight difference in your bow compared to your buddies bow?I do know that just five pounds of draw weight can make a big difference.I feel that if you are not overbowed an MA made to your specs would feel better to you than a bow to long.I hunt with 45# and 50# bows I like the lighter bows because I can control them better.I would test drive one or call the guys at the shop .Good luck I hope things work out for you.

Sandman, the PMA was 3# lighter than my PSA. I shoot light weight bows also. My Psa is 43#, currently having a 50# PSA built for elk and hopefully a moose one day. I know I dont need 50# to kill either one, but 50# keeps me legal everywhere from the research I have done.

I would not say the difference was night and day between the PSA and PMA, just got me thinking. 3# at these lower weights is a big difference as compared to going from 60 to 57#
