PL or Recurve ?? - Andy Man

Just Wondering? Been testing back and forth for awhile now, trying to decide which I shoot better the PLx or PTFx: I seem to enjoy shooting the PLx most , and have taken most of my bow kills with the PLx (mainly just because I take it hunting the most): I am happy with my accuracy with both: but after much back and forth testing (mainly stumping) I feel that I’m definitely more accurate with the PTFx . I know its personal to each individual, but what are your feelings? those that shoot both?

Not exactly apples and apples. I have 7 Widows of various models and if I had to choose to keep just two it would be the PLX and the PAX. I like them both that much. If I had to choose just one I would flip a coin.

i shoot my PSA's better than a PL. although i want to shoot a PL i have just proven over and over that i shoot a recurve better, i guess its the mass weight and grip, plus i like the feel of the recurves draw. I just went through the same thing and test drove a PLV similiar to what i had planned on ordering and after shooting it a week felt my money was better spent on a PAX. I have owned 4 or 5 PL's and eventhough they are great bows, i just feel day in and day out i shoot a recurve better. I have looked back on the kills i have made with a recurve and longbow. almost all of those shot with a recurve are very well placed ,the longbow kills, well most were good shots but a few could have been better. and i have a hard time hunting with a bow that i know isnt giving it my best effort.. 3D is a totally diffrent deal.. i think for me, its a matter of consistiancy with the recurve and i have a hard time with that with a longbow

Thanks Lefty and Dave: I definately shoot the PTF more accurately, but the PL is so much more fun to shoot; I'm quite accurate with the PL, but a little more so with the recurve. The longbow also seems more forgiving of a less than perfect shot for me I'm gonna be using both , and was wondering what others have found; Thanks

I've been down that road. I settled on a PSRX for my recurve and have a new PLX on order. Have sold everything else off to shoot just these two for awhile.

I seem to want to shoot my PLX more even though I "think" I may shoot my PCHX a "little" better. Probably not enough difference to kill more deer with one & less with the other.

I would agree that the PL is slightly more forgiving , I ordered a PSRX a couple of Weeks back, the one I test drove shot really well so I ordered one. To me all Widows are easy to shoot , I'm getting rid of everything non Widow this year. I have not shot The PTF but would assume it is similar to the PA . Good luck

I find that a LB is more challenging then my Recurve So I enjoy the challenge (when target shooting.) But it's an entirely different matter when it comes to hunting... I will bring my LB as a "backup," however it is the recurve that walks the woods with me.

I shoot recurves and longbows. I probably shoot a recurve more accurately. But I do without a doubt enjoy shooting and hunting with the longbow more. I like the simplicity of the longbow over the recurve. I also think I can get a shot off quicker with the longbow. But when I am standing in the back yard on level ground shooting at dots and circles, I can shoot the recurve better. I have been thinking that the PSR might be the best of both. I want to shoot the longbow the best, but I cant. Andy Man, I am in the same boat as you.
