Custom KB PA Build - Recurve

To All, I am turning to the Widow Wall of Wisdom in this new PA KB build. What I have going is this. For the last forty years I have been trying to get my hands on a piece of Black Walnut sitting in Barn. Last year it finally happened (given to me). The walnut has very sentimenal value and meaning to me. What Im looking for is help from all you Widow Shooters who would like to participate in this build. I am all ears and eyes in hearing from all of you. What Im trying to do is hook up this walnut with a color and exotic wood combo thats gonna be eye appealling. The canvas is all yours look forward in hearing back from you. Any photos posted of Widow risers with Black Walnut would be much appreciated. Thank You All Best of Hunting in 2014, Timothy K (aka Recurve)

Thanks Toby in all your efforts. Much appreciated. Maybe the person who purchased the Bow will check the forum once in-while and see this posting. My thought process in selections and colors for wood is very confusing to say the least. Looking forward in meeting you folks in Columbus. Thank You Recurve

The Widow Boys told me my KBX went through the paint booth earlier in the week I didn't ask but my guess is that she might hit the front door in couple weeks. Toby stated it came in at 42lbs at 28 that puts me at 44lbs my draw. Perfect for an old Man starting to feel the aches and pains of old age. Whoever said that getten Old Ain't fo Sissy's was spot on. WOW! LOL! We went with Tiger Myrtle on the Limbs with the all Walnut Riser and two small lighter lines for the hourglass up against the Black fiberglass. Overlays with inlays. Can't wait to dial it in. First Widow ever and the Asbell grip is what brought me over to the Widow camp.

Andy Man I have to admit that this KBX build has brought back a little bit of a kid feeling in me in getting my hands on this Bow.Looking back over many years and whats all behind the Walnut is just an incredible feeling. I have to thank Widow for making this all possible those guys are in Nixa top shelf in my book. They have been just wonderful folks to work with. I have a PTFX next up soon as we get the KB dialed in. I believe they have enough wood to build maybe 4 bows I don't know how much they used on this one. I know they have enough to do another one for sure. Hopefully I can get three or four bows out of the plank I gave them. Can't wait to hit the woods this fall with these bows.

Once saw a bow built by Kimshaw archery with a walnut riser and Hickory limbs (was very perty as I remember) The PTF Is about my favorite model, that they make , in the recurve ( have 3) But right now I'm loving my PLx ( kinda favor the long bow right now) but then again , I have shot a longbow for 20+ years

Thank You all at Black Widow for such a Beautiful work of Crafsmanship. Never ever thought you could turn Black Walnut into such a combination of Beauty with Tiger Myrtle veneers and Walnut overlays and Whitetail inlays. 42lbs @ 28" 58"O/A. I dialed it in last Sat and at my draw 28 3/4 just smokes an arrow at 44lbs. Couldn't be more pleased with the draw super smooooth. I had to call widow and ask Roger if I put any scratches on her if he could restore her to what she looks like today. Reason being if he would of stated NO this bow would never see the woods ever. Widow made this Dream I had for over 35yrs come full circle. Just Crazy Cool to hunt with a bow made from the very woods I have taken several Whitetails out of that has been in the family for many decades. Thank You Roger Toby and John and crew

The walnut overlays really match up nice with the Tiger Myrtle. Toby done a Great job in this hook up and the inlays pop real well with the darker overlays. Couldn't be happier in how this KBX turned out. The next process is getting a little RED stain on that hour-glass. 4 months and counting till opening day.

adding couple more pictures of the inlays/overlays with more of the Tiger Myrtle showing on limbs. Toby done a Great job in selecting the Darker Brindle combo with the lighter color in the veneers. Its what pops that riser and overlays really well. Our little Cambo shed hunting with his dad 2yrs ago kid was three years old and my boy was walking through the thicket turned around to see where he was and this was the photo that he got lucky and took with his cell phone. Really neat photo of the Grandson at 3yrs of age. Just had to throw that one in there.

IMHO that is probably the best looking widow I have seen. The walnut riser is beautiful! I was going to try to find some for the PCH that I ordered 6 weeks ago but went with zircote instead with tiger myrtle limbs and no red. Makes me kinda wish I had found some walnut. Beautiful bow!!!

Hey Recurve that bow really looks nice and I remember talking to you for awhile at the show as you showed me the piece of wood you brought with you.

Drop Tine I appreciate your comments and I do remember talking with you in Columbus that day. I never dreamed the Walnut would turn out like it did. The photo's don't do this bow justice you have to see it in person to appreciate the Craftmanship they put into their bows. Pictures are nice but the finer deteils they put into this build in the laser work and ovelay/inlays is incredible. Toby is starting the PTFX this week and I have attached a picture of Spalted Mango veneeers I just sent them. Crazy looking wood this is. The waiting game begins. Black Widow Bow Madness at its finest.
