I prefer a pop up blind with a shoot through screen. I got cocky once and tried to run and gun a turkey like I do with a shotgun. I tried to use a bog maple tree as cover. I called a nice long beard in at 12 yards and picked me off as soon as I started t draw. I use my PCH II 58" 54# @ 28. 150 grn Woodsmans and CE 250's with a 100 grn insert. Its the sam set up tht I use for whitetail, bears, rabbits (cept for the woodsmans) and every thing else that I hunt.

I ordered a 66 inch PL. Do y'all think that will be to long for a pop up blind? I know I could make it work in a natural blind.

i set up just like i do when gun hunting (no blind and just set still).i use 2 decoys set 15-20 yards from me.i dont shoot until he gets on top of hen AFTER he thrashes on the jake for awhile. this gives me about 3 seconds to shoot while his pants are down.i shot 2 last year setting at the same oak tree 2 weeks apart.i heard them in evening and was set up 1 hour before light so i had to do was to wait for him to start gobbling.i was about 100 yards from him on the same ridge so i knew he was coming my way. one was 7 steps and 1 was 9 steps from me in wide open woods when i shot.i wear the hex suit along with camo but it is weird being that close and he not pick me out but his full attention was on the decoys.

mississippi bowhunter i set on my knees on the ground like if you were at a picnic.i know you are concerned about to long of a longbow BUT dont let that bother you.the longest bow i have is 66" and i have no problem shooting from the ground JUST TILT THE BOW DOWN .i dont shoot with a vertical bow.i shoot left handed and standing up i cant the bow at about 11 and 5 oclock .if your bow is to strong you will have problems but otherwise you will have none. i saw a video of john schultz shoot a longbow and he was laying on his stomach.i can take any of my 50-55# bows and lay flat on ground and shoot it and this is including my HH 66" 57# longbow but i cant shoot my pma 64" 62# laying on ground (to strong). hope this helps or at least gives you ideas.with a gun i dont use decoys (no need to) cause you can shoot them way out there but with a bow i ALWAYS carry them.

Thanks for the information. I bought a Waldrop Pack Seat a few months ago, I can shoot my recurve from it fairly easy,I should be able to shoot my longbow from it also.

That is not legal in Mississippi. Shotgun or Bow only. Roger is wanting me to come to Missouri, and hunt turkey with him. I think I am going to take him up on it.

3Rivers has a blind that should handle your bow as it is designed specifically for bows. I have shot a 62" LB out of it with no trouble. Have one & like it as it is not a pop up but a wrap around. Sets up real fast & not too heavy. Only disadvantage I've found is it is bulky to carry. Will want to carry in & setup ahead of time. Will cost you some $$$$!
