Proud PL owners show off! - First Up

I am looking for photos of PL bows. Particularly the PLX series. Since the riser on the longbow is much smaller than a recurve I feel that the wood shows off differently.I will be ordering one soon and I am considering myrtle limbs.I do not know what type of wood or wood combination for the riser yet; I am considering zircote but I would like to see other ideas. I am also curious how many owners are for the red stripe or not.I feel that with certain wood the red accents the bow however at times it takes away from the overall look.

Got the fever while at BW & bought the above PLX as it was ready to go. If ordering one, I would prefer Bocote, Myrtle Burl, Zircote or some combination of those woods. BW has a Myrtle & a Bocote PLX in stock now. Having a hard time staying away from one of them. Like I really need another bow!

That is a good looking longbow. Give us a report on how it shoots.

The first PL I got had the standard grip. It took a lot of trial & error on gripping it but I finally got pretty good with it. Drilled a real nice 8 pt. at 22 long steps with it. But, the grip still caused me to question if that's what I really wanted. Never really got completely comfortable with it. So, I sold it & got a Toby grip & have never looked back. Since I switched to the Toby grip, I've had no issues. The above PL shoots really good for me. 100% satisfied. Nearly zero recoil or vibration. I wish I had discovered longbows years before I did. I've been shooting trad bows since 1967 but only recently (few yrs. back) took up the longbow. It's hard to say but I like PLs better than recurves. Look out deer/turkeys during 2014!

I don't have any close up pictures of mine but it is all Osage (kind of boring but I love it). I think the "Red" stripe should be a requirement. It's like a "trademark".

Hey Andy Man , I`ve always had Yew wood limb veneers until the last few yews and as such have a bit of o soft touch for them . These were all recurves and you now have me thinking about a PLX . Any opinions on limb behaviour of longbow and recurve with Yew ? If you can with bamboo and action wood cores.. Cheers , still no Stanley.......

Are those limb savers on some of the bows? I just put a set on my PCHX to test. Put them close to the tip hoping they would also stop any string slap that may occur. Do you feel they make a noticeable difference?

Greybark; I really like the color combo of yew and cocobolo, have 2 PLx's that way and a PTFx with the Bamboo under Idouby any felt difference in any veneer, do like the bamboo over the actionwood ,fel that it is lighter and smoother recovery (probably just in my head though)

Buckshotap, I messed around with the linbsavers on the longbows and really didn't feel much difference. I know some guys that really like them on certain recurves though.
