rabbit hunting - anyone? - DennySurgisJr

Anyone been out after bunnies? Lots of snow here but I've shot a couple so far. If I ever hit the right day with good weather I think it will cost me some arrows. Lots of sign but they are holed up mostly.

Here are a couple little guys from last weekend in Grand Coulee, WA. We were shotgunning behind 5 Beagles (cheating, I know). When I lived back east I would give em hell with a bow...have not tried here in the sage brush country because it's near impossible to see them until they take off running. I plan to try if we get some sunshine on a weekend. You are right, with these below zero temperatures they are holed up tight. Wish I had someone close to me to go with. 2 or 3 more guys always add to your chance of success. I will post pics if I get any with my Widow.

We have had a severe shortage of Wabbits around her for the last few years (think one of those down cycles?)

Now, that's a bummer! No fried rabbit, potatoes & gravy. Did you try bribing her with something she's been wanting?

Man I don't know if I would be asking her if she wants something at this time, she just might tell you she wants a new husband.

Not good Willie. That is even worse than calling Roger a little "chunky" when you have a bow on order.

It is always nicer to clean head-shot rabbits.

Went out on Saturday. Trugged through snow above my knees, the rabbits were holding tight. I had 3 shots on 2 rabbits, hit one.......man it's tough to pick a spot on a running bunny!!

So I drive home after work and see a rabbit hopping around a brush pile in the back of the yard. I park, sneak to the barn and grab my bow. In spy gear, I ease toward the pile. I spot the rabbit and hit full draw whispering, "this one's for Willie."

Denny you have to convince your wife you were saving the neighborhood from this deadly Flu-virus within the rabbit population. We have Swine Flu thats real we have Bird Flu thats real and and West nile thats real now convince her there's a new American version of Rabbit Flu and its of the worst kind. You have to get your Bow back Brother this is not a good situation your in. Maybe just maybe she might get to thinking about those other flu bugs and buy in just enough she'll give you your bow back. Worth a try

I have soooooo many rabbits on my place ... It isn't nothing to see a couple of hundred an evening ... But they get a fair flogging from dogs and the local lads and their over and unders ... So hitting them with a bow is still a fine challenge ... Err ... I mean pain in the .... Umm ... Yep a fine sporting challenge ! Anyone gets out to Oz , more than welcome to thin the herd for me ..... Just don't take too many pics with dead bunnies and your Widow ... After so many trips empty handed it'll make me look bad !
