Low Wrist Grip Feedback - Pinecone

I am interested in hearing some feedback from those who shoot with the BW low wrist grip. My Widow's have the standard grip and I shoot them well, but I have the chance to pick up another bow with the low wrist grip and just wanted to get some feedback from those who have shot them both. Thanks!

I had a difficult time with the switch. I've always shot the standard grip. I had Toby and Roger bring a low wrist grip bow to Maine one year for me to try. I guess putting more "heel" into gripping just didn't feel right to me.

I have had both the standard and low grip. I really never thought about the low grip until I shot one and that is the one I like best. You will never know until you try the low grip. Make a deal so you can send it back in a couple days in case you don't like it .

Hello Claudia, I've shot the standard grip for years... Also tried the Asbell grip but didn't care for it... About a year ago I picked up a PCHX that has the low grip, wanted to try both the PCH and the low grip... Truthfully I love them both! Recently picked up another CHX that has the low grip, and saving my pennies to send a couple of my older Widows in for a re-finish and to have the grips re-worked into the low grip. I'd say at the very least give it a try, you might find it is "the" grip for you too...

i like low wrist (heeling the bow). i got use to it shooting a straight grip longbow and it seems to me a quicker grip for hunting.

Thanks for the feedback, you guys. I think I am going to give this bow a try and see how it feels. The thing I like about the idea of the low wrist option is the potential improvement in stability in the bow hand. By putting a little more heel into the grip, more of the bow's weight should be held against the wrist and bones of the forearm than against the hand. All else being equal, this should be a more solid base for the bow. Thank you again, everyone. I will give you an update on how it is going in a couple of weeks! Claudia

as others stated, it's a personal thing. Me, I love the low grip. after trying one, I immediately sent two of mine in for refinishing.

It seemed like a high percentage of the test shooters favored the low wrist grip at the Kalamazoo Expo last weekend.

It feels the best to me because it feels more like my PL grip

I got the bow with the low wrist today and I put a few arrows through it to check things out. Honestly, I am amazed at how much I like it! The grip feels more narrow in the throat than the standard grip. In fact, it reminds me a lot of the PSAX I had built a number of years ago with a narrow grip; back when BW still offered that grip as a standard option. Since my hands are smaller than a guy's hands, having a slightly smaller grip makes a big difference in terms of comfort and repeatability. Now my only problem is that I am going to need to send my other PCHX riser back to the Widow Works for an overhaul. Oh, well...it's only money...LOL! Claudia
