Wear long rubber gloves & be at least as scent free as when deer hunting. Had 2 young red foxes trail me up after walking in with red fox urine on my boots. Watch the fingers & leave the boots out of your house!

Hey Toby, I'll call you on Tuesday. I have to talk to you anyway about getting my PCH riser refinished and inserts for an AMF fishing reel put in. I just gave away a bunch of 110's and 220's!!! I would have given them to you had I known.

What are you targeting? I've trapped mink, 'coon and muskrat years back. Didn't have any beaver around here then and no coyote or fox to speak of. Lots of coyote now! Thinking of going after coyote next year. Trapping is a blast and it is addictive! Good luck!

Just put out my first sets in 30 yrs. Got 5 coon and a opossum. Need to get rid of coyotes and bobcats but the coon population is way to high. Cant keep them out of my sets. Very addictive. Like Christmas everyday checking them. Toby, what are you targeting ?

Trying for bobcat and fox mainly but whatever sticks his foot in is fine. Havent got into any water set yet. I managed to catch a cat and 2 fox and a couple of skunks and coon. It has been alot of fun. Denny, I cant help it that the chicks dig me and I know where your going with this. Not Funny!!

Toby: I love trapping and doing so since 1968. I am a water set guy primarily mink, muskrat, beaver. Never cared much for dry sets though. Stay at it.

for bobcat i have a neat trick i do so let me explain (be patient). more than one place to purchase this item (19.95) but it is a electronic game call that is programmed to make 3 different bird squeaks or chirps.the item is the size of a pack of cigarets.i got mine a F&T trapping supply. Next step is to dig a dirt hole set and make the hole big enough to put this item in ground around 12"deep at a 45 degree angle and then turn it on (last for 3 weeks) before you change batteries.put a small stick crossways of the hole to stop a quick get-away.set trap 8-10" from edge of hole. put one or two small feathers just sticking out of hole. Hang a full length white feather dangling from string that is attached to limb above set (flops and wiggles in wind) to get attention from a distance. hee-haww plan is coming together.

That sounds like a a good method. I've never heard of that. Is it legal?

yes its legal as i wouldnt do it if not.i live in virginia but if you can use electronic calls to hunt predator you should be ok.tip #2 is as follows drill hole in a set of deer horns( 5/16"),the whiter the horn the better so it stands out.tie a small line of fishing line (strong line like spider wire) to the horn and anchor it tight to ground in old road etc.this is to keep critters from grabbing and hauling butt. put lure on horn and put a blind set at the horn. see coyote are like dog who wont go get a bone if they see it.hide the trap or traps very good and waula.the plan is coming together.

What does it mean if you just find some hairs at your set?

it means close but no cigar.

a better question would be what does it mean if you find where the animal has took a dump on your set.it takes a lot of control because if they get to relaxed ( POW).
