Ghillie Suit - George L

Does anyone have success hunting from the ground in a Ghillie Suit? I hunt in South East Ohio were it's mature hardwoods. I thought I would try it from the ground. I haven't hunted Whitetail from the ground in 30 years.

They absolutely work. I do think you will find them very cumbersome to get around in. Heavy, hot and sometimes noisy; they also catch on briars. You can get nearly the same effect with most any of the good 3D-cut materials for less $ and weight. Most are on a net base and you could customize them if you felt compelled. I saw a fascinating home-made snow ghillie suit made of builders Tyvek that was VERY light and worked so well it was hard to pick out the person until he moved. It's been so long since we had any real winter here that it seemed a waste of time to make one. But YES...they do work and fool all of us animals. Won't fool their noses though. :)
