arrow tuning - Gooses

hi i just got my new black widow bow kb11 in gray bark 49# at 28 inches. i just ordered gold tips traditional in 55/75 shafts for it. my question is how do you glue the insert in to be removed if i need to add some weight? id like to add 50 grain to the front and 125 grain field point. but if its to much how do you take it back out with out ruining the arrow? probally shot it around 30 inches long Thanks for the info carl

Gooses, there is a low temp hot melt glue available, that is what I use while I am experimenting. It really melts quickly at low tempt. It lets loose of the glue-in inserts on carbon shafts super easy without having to get it too hot, and possibly damage the carbon shaft. Once you settle on the combination of weights in the front you can then go to a stronger glue if you do so desire. I use the low temp hot melt, and do not feel like I need a stronger glue...it has served me real well so far. As far as the nocks are concerned they are press fit on my carbon shafts requiring no glue. Congrats on your new Black Widow, and good luck. Keep us posted on how everything turns out for you.

you can use Stu Millers calculator to get you close with length weight points ets; I have an assortment of different weight field points (125,145,175,200,250) and hot melt in an insert and find the point that is close and then pop out the nock and gradually cut shaft shorter to get bare shaft to fine tune the points are so much cheaper than brass weights then can do up broad head to weight same as field point EX; My 50# PTF @ 26" tunes with a 35/55 with a 175 grain field point; thus I can use an aluminum broad head adaptor plus a 125 broad head to match or a 55/75 tunes perfect with a 250 field point so a 125 stel broad head adapto with a 125 broad head matches Just an Idea Like the later because it gives me a heavier arrow for hunting

Sold Gold Tip arrows for many years. Only glue I know of for MAYBE getting inserts out is hot melt. Doesn't hold as well as Insert Iron or AAE instant but loosens up at a lower temperature. Don't heat the shaft. Screw in a long field point & heat it with an alcohol burner. Check often to see if you can pull out the insert. Be sure to grasp the point with pliers! It will be HOT!

Safest way is just cut off the shaft a little bit each time from the back end....of course this is only if you aren't playing with glue on the back end for weights or nock. Regards.
